Be careful around all tools

This is the damage a bog standard cordless drill can do. I was drilling in an awkward spot and my glove must have touched the drill bit, got caught in it and ripped the finger clean off. I didn’t react fast enough so it was probably a second before I had the sense to take my finger off the trigger. Finger a little bruised but fine the next day.

Out of all of our power tools I wasn’t expecting this. I’ll be more careful next time.

  1. Whew! I first read the post in email without the benefit of the picture or the last couple lines of text. It sounded like you ripped your own finger clean off! When I was in 4th or 5th grade my school custodian lost his ring finger working on a door return… ladder toppled. It made an impression on me. Anyway, very relieved to see your finger intact!

    1. I’m glad I didn’t, but had that been a more powerful drill press then that might have been the outcome. Sometimes you need these reminders!!! Ring finger lost, yes I bet it made an impression 🙁

  2. I’m with Brian I was expecting a picture of your finger alongside your hand. It’s very difficult to be vigilant all the time especially when you want to get things done. Take care

    1. Yes I try to be safe, but every now and again…. Need to be better in future
